This album attempts to create an unprecedented sound-world, solely achieved by the rather odd instrumentation consisting of trombone(s), some other horns (some self-made), analog modular synthesizers, effect pedals and the legendary Barth AUDIOS at the heart of it. In endless studio sessions, conceptual improvisation and composition-fragments were crystalized into what proved working best for the setup. Abundant material emerged on our quest, extracting music out of soundscapes. More often than not, the trombone breaks it down to simplistic patterns, lines, asymmetric grooves, recurring and repetitive motifs and what we then called “sound frames.” Each track is based on one uncut initial take, simple chronology, no bits and pieces.
Navigating somewhat between contemporary music, free improv, noise, pulse, reiterative material, we ourselves have not yet managed to come up with a fitting description, let alone a fitting genre-tag. So if you like it and have an idea, please help us out here.
